Let’s draw a cool-looing bat monster!
Looking at the finished drawing above, you can certainly see some bat-like qualities.
Those like large (and a bit odd-looking) ears, and while you can’t visualize them just yet… wings spread out, just as you’d expect from the creature, in real life.
The key with this lesson – given that we want it to look monstrous, is to get super creative – and try out some ways that you can make your drawing look BIGGER, scarier, strange…
Different.
Make yours, truly look like a monster!
OK – let’s begin.
Let’s Draw a Bat Monster
Beginning with a framework of simple shapes – those like circles, and following up with a series of colored lines – something to help you more easily visualize this creature, even before it comes into view…
Our monster takes form, like this…

And yes, as you can see – we’re going to have it standing upright – wings spread from side to side…
Taking on a more anthropomorphic (human-like) position.
Here are some additional lines…

As always – the framework is here, to simply help you *picture* the end result – BEFORE, the actual picture is complete.
Whether it’s drawing, or anything else for that matter – it’s great to have a goal to focus on – something you’re aiming to achieve, down the road.
This way, it’s easier to press on through, to the end.
…
Fading out the framework, draw an eye for your creature.
Draw yours to look however you like. Meaner perhaps?
Remember… the eye can often *cement* the eventual look of your character – or at least the path you’ll take to create it.
It’s the window to the soul, and helps to establish character in your character, early on…

Next up – begin to bring its face into view.
Use the shapes in behind – to help you out, if you like…

And here – really beginning to see that this monster is going to be ‘bat-like’… go ahead and draw in some large ears, beginning with the one that appears closer to you – the drawer/observer…

Next up, continue to sketch out the body.
I gave my Bat Monster, a mane around its neck. Something unique.
Here’s how it looks so far, with the wings now – coming into view…

Again, notice how the grey areas appear, as you proceed through each step. These of course are the areas, *you’ve just* drawn…
Helps for visualization.
Bringing the ‘spokes’ of your Bat Monster’s wings into view – followed by some lines which make up its legs…
We’re just about done! 🙂

Few more things now.
Bring the feet into view, like so…

And then of course – a few arcing lines on either side…
Go ahead and complete the Bat Monster’s wings, like so…

OK.
Here it is, minus a framework…

And much better-looking still…
Here’s our character – colored, about to take flight, and of course…
Ready for some serious frightening! 🙂

And that’s that – yet another cartoon drawing lesson, complete.
Hey, come to think of… kind of looks like Man Bat from Batman, no?
Well…
Hope you had some fun – that you were super creative in the process…
And will see you again real soon for more!
