When recreating this cartoon monster – ‘plant-like’ in origin by the looks of it… keep in mind that this is unlike anything else! Imagined and drawn from scratch – use this lesson, and the images here to help you tap into your own imaginative ideas!
First Step – Sketching Out a Monster Structure…
Similar to how we’d go about mapping out structure before-hand… for other types of ‘normal’ drawings we’d tackle here… I went ahead and used three shapes to position the framework for this soon-to-be monster drawing.
You could easily rearrange this to create something totally different. Here it is…
Pretty wild-looking, isn’t it! Yup – when it comes to drawing monsters – or anything else unworldly… the sky’s the limit with respect to how you go about it – and what the end product reveals.
OK – let’s draw!
Second Step – Draw a Unique Cartoon Monster
Things like ‘many eyes’, teeth, tentacles and well – lots of other strange things… all come to mind when creating a brand new – unique – monster like this one. Step by step, and beginning with not two but SIX EYES!! — here’s how the lesson pans out.
Oh – and again, see how creative you can get with your own monster. More eyes, change the line style, leave out the tongue… whichever!! 🙂
Pretty crazy-looking, but all in all – a product of pure creativity! And that’s exactly what drawing (especially monsters!) is all about.
So. How did yours turn out? Did you add more arms? More eyes? Is yours taller or shorter? Thinner or wider? Does it have a long tail? Legs? Horns!?
Well, however it looks – surely it’s scary and creative. Congrats on your monstrous creation. 🙂
